About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care and acting as a patient liaison in support of the Medical Oncology Department. Duties include providing direct patient care per organizational policies and procedures, preparing patients for providers by taking vital signs and collecting clinical data, administering medications (oral, injections, IVs, nebulizer treatments), assisting providers with procedures, and assisting in patient navigation for inpatient/outpatient services. The LVN works closely with clinic members to ensure patients receive appropriate services.

Requirements

  • Completion of accredited LVN Program.
  • Current California LVN license.
  • IV certified, or obtains IV certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Current AHA or equivalent certification in CPR required.
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing ambulatory nursing care as appropriate for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult.

Nice To Haves

  • One year’s experience in ambulatory care setting preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care per organizational policies and procedures.
  • Prepares patient for provider including vital signs and collection of clinical data.
  • Administers medications to patients, including, oral, injections, IV’s and nebulizer treatments as ordered by provider.
  • Assists provider and/or performs procedures in assigned area within scope of practice.
  • Assists in the patient navigation for both inpatient/outpatient services and works closely with members of the clinic to ensure that patient is receiving appropriate services.
