About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care and administrative support within a neurosurgery clinic. The Registered Nurse (RN) will assist physicians and advanced practitioners with patient visits, transcribe notes, place orders in the EMR, and review test results. The position also requires coordination with nurse navigators and surgery scheduling staff to ensure a smooth patient care continuum and physician workflow. Responsibilities include screening patients, maintaining exam rooms, assisting with laboratory procedures, and providing clerical support as needed.

Requirements

  • Current RN nursing license from the State of Oklahoma.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Prefer clinical office experience.
  • Emergency room and hospital experience may be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Rounds in the hospital and transcribes patient notes under the direction of the physician.
  • Assists the physician during clinic visits and transcribes patient notes under the direction of the physician.
  • Places orders in Hospital and clinic EMR as instructed by the physician.
  • Reviews imaging and lab results and acts accordingly after physician direction.
  • Works in coordination with the nurse navigator in assisting the patient through the neurosurgery care continuum.
  • Works in coordination with the surgery scheduling staff to maintain a balanced approach for the physician.
  • Screens patient and obtains pertinent information.
  • Assists physician or advanced practitioner during patient visit in accordance with age specific needs.
  • Assists the physician or advanced practitioner in all aspects of patient care and communication as instructed.
  • Maintains the exam rooms and work environment.
  • Assists with laboratory procedures.
  • Provides reception/clerical support as needed.
