About The Position

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Clinic Receptionist to join our Troy Family Medicine/Pediatrics team. The Clinic Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and staff and plays an important role in creating a welcoming and professional patient experience. This position supports the daily operations of the clinic by assisting with patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, telephone communication, registration, records, insurance information, and other administrative functions. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain professional and organized in a busy healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting preferred
  • Previous customer service or receptionist experience preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
  • Professional, friendly, and patient-focused demeanor
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, families, visitors, and staff in a friendly and professional manner
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for patients entering the clinic
  • Check patients in and out for appointments
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments
  • Answer and appropriately direct incoming telephone calls
  • Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and contact information
  • Assist with registration and patient record updates
  • Obtain and verify required insurance information and documentation
  • Collect applicable copayments and other patient balances
  • Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, referrals, and clinic procedures
  • Coordinate referrals and other administrative requests as directed
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
  • Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, patients, and families
  • Assist with billing and insurance-related administrative functions as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
  • Follow HIPAA, hospital policies, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support efficient clinic operations
