About The Position

The Elfers Cardiovascular Center is located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus. Our team provides a wide range of outpatient care for patients who have a high risk of heart disease. We provide diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care. Local travel to other Newton-Wellesley Cardiology sites in Needham and Chestnut Hill may be required during times of staffing shortages or other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes). Due to this requirement, this position requires the ability to commute to various locations/reliable transportation. We are seeking a Per Diem to Clinic/Practice Assistant to support our practice picking up a minimum of 2, 8-hour shifts a month. Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations, under minimal supervision. Performs administrative duties related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, check-out duties. Actual job duties may vary by Department.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Office experience 3-5 years required

Responsibilities

Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office.
Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
Assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments.
Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems.
Provides assistance and training to others in these areas.
May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.
Provides functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants.
In conjunction with Supervisor oversees daily activities of practice staff.
May be required to accept co-payments.
Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
