The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for oversight of daily operations related to the medical clinic. Oversees implementation of discipline specific policies and procedures. Supervises and directs Medical Assistants and Health Aides and Clinic Coordinators as related to Clinic operations. Possesses nursing assessment skills, ability to work within an interdisciplinary team model and knowledge of the nursing care planning process. Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. IV skills recommended but not essential. Functions independently in the day-to-day management of the clinical needs of participants and the operations of the PACE center clinic utilizing Fallon Health and Fallon Health Weinberg (FHW) policies and procedures, leadership guidance and program goals in the decision-making process. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as an RN in New York Sate
  • Certification: CPR or willingness to be certified.
  • Access to reliable transportation to perform work throughout the PACE center’s service area (30-mile radius) when needed.
  • Willingness to occasionally assist other PACE centers either in person or remotely, as appropriate, when there is an opening or a gap in coverage.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience working with frail elders in a health care setting.

Nice To Haves

  • IV skills recommended but not essential.
  • Supervisory experience with medical assistants, clerical staff and health aides is preferred.
  • Ambulatory clinic experience is recommended but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruitment and training of staff within the discipline including Medical Assistants.
  • Responsible for recruitment and training of Personal Care Aide with respect to Clinic operational functions.
  • Participates in the oversight of related contracted vendors.
  • Represents the program and related discipline at assigned community and external events upon request.
  • Evaluates staff on achievement of goals and deliverables and assessment of competencies. Manages the resolution of performance issues in consultation with the Clinical Manager and Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Provides ongoing constructive feedback and guidance to staff.
  • Conducts new staff orientation and performance evaluations for staff in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates the provision of patient care and scheduling within the medical clinic setting including PACE providers and ancillary providers (dentistry, podiatry, optometry, audiology).
  • Collaborates with participants, caregivers, physicians, nurse practitioners and other staff to meet participants’ needs.
  • Oversee scheduling of INR’s and community blood draws for Medical Assistants
  • Participates in all types of Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
  • Participates in management and quality meetings as required.
  • Coordinates/supervises the purchase of medical/surgical/pharmaceutical/food service supplies.
  • Assures that clinical equipment is in good working condition in collaboration with the Quality and Risk Manager.
  • Assumes responsibility for inservice education for medical assistants and health aides and Coordinators.
  • Interviews potential candidates and makes recommendations for hiring to Clinical Manager. Provides for cultural and diverse needs of participants when providing care.
  • Monitors and evaluates therapeutic interventions and identifies emergency situations and initiates appropriate nursing orders/interventions.
  • Participates in the nursing “on-call” rotation as assigned.
  • Supports RN colleagues, covering and assuming changes in assignment as assigned by Clinical Manger.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings with direct reports.
