About The Position

Serve as coach and supervisor for the Medical Assistant Team Managers who work on the pod care delivery teams in collaboration with the Nursing and medical team, providing the highest level of continuously improving quality medical care, health education and preventive services possible. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant Certification through an external agency is required.
  • Graduate from medical assistant school or one to two years of healthcare experience with on-the-job health technician training successfully completed.
  • One year experience working as a medical assistant at Clinica is required.
  • Ability to flourish in a team management system.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority community.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills.
  • Interacts with colleagues, team, and all staff in a professional and collegial manner.
  • Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day direct supervision/coaching of Medical Assistant Team Managers, including hiring/firing authority and performance appraisals.
  • Weekly 1:1 meeting with MATMs.
  • Prepare agenda for weekly/monthly MA huddles and general MA trainings.
  • Attend weekly CLM meeting.
  • Ensure orientation, education, and training of new clinical pod staff in clinical support activities is completed.
  • Attend and prepare organizational MATS meeting/agenda.
  • Keep MA FTE updated.
  • Provide pro-active clinical support while continuing to back up providers up to 1 day/week.
  • Collaborate with site leadership regarding Pod supervision.
  • Maintain and oversee CLIA point of care testing completion.
  • Quest Point person and oversight of on-site Quest phlebotomist.
  • Supervise medication refills in-house and out.
  • Maintain and update daily schedules for the pod.
  • Audit MATM charts.
  • Oversee, print and review quality data in partnership with MATM (hypertension, paps due, immunizations, Medicare wellness, etc.).
  • Relay data board info to MATMs and set goals to reach.
  • Audit and make sure lab binders are up to date and signed by MATMs and operations.
  • Open, close and block schedules as needed.
  • Schedule and train on upcoming changes.
  • Train new MAs/HTs first month in partnership with MATM.
  • Continue to develop the MATS role as needed.
  • Serve as back up to Assistant Nursing Director/Clinic Director for NextGen emergent scheduling needs.
  • Proactively support and intervene as necessary on the pod with patient care and pod flow in a professional manner with essential MA and MATM duties as needed.
  • Participate on designated committees. Including, but not limited to: Clinic Leadership Meeting, INS committees, JEDI committees (varies per site), Immunization meeting (varies per site), Floating provider committee, Different committees (varies by site).
