Clinic - LPN
About The Position
The Clinic LPN works in the clinic setting at North Central Heart, a division of Avera Heart Hospital. The role follows standards of care requiring competent nursing care and professional behavior. The LPN is responsible and accountable for their individual actions and the outcomes of patient care delivered during their clinic shift. The LPN assists cardiologists and surgeons by entering requested orders in the computer or EMR, refilling medications through the EMR, providing patients with visit summaries and/or educational information, rooming patients, cleaning exam rooms, and responding to nursing requests and other duties needed in the clinic.
Requirements
- Graduate from an approved nursing program.
- Hold an LPN license in South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska, or a license from a state within the Nursing Compact, upon hire.
- Obtain Minnesota licensure within six months of the start date.
- Hold current BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- Graduation from a CCNE- or NLN-accredited nursing program is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist cardiologists and surgeons in the clinic setting.
- Enter orders in the computer or EMR as requested.
- Refill medications through the EMR.
- Provide patients with their visit summary and/or educational information upon completion of the office visit.
- Assist with rooming patients.
- Clean exam rooms.
- Respond to nursing requests and perform other duties that may be necessary in the clinic setting.
- Maintain accountability for individual actions and patient-care outcomes during the clinic shift.
