Requirements

  • Ability to fluently speak and read English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, handbooks, policies, patient care plans and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with all levels of staff and patients.
  • LPN: Diploma from an accredited LPN program.
  • RN: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Current, valid LPN or RN license in good standing to practice in the State of Florida.
  • Current, valid CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of related nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare clinic rooms for patients and allergy testing each morning.
  • Calibrate PFT sensor daily.
  • Escort patients to treatment rooms and prepare them for doctor's visits.
  • Assist doctors with skin testing and other procedures.
  • Send prescriptions, complete asthma care plans and discharge summaries.
  • Complete documentation in the EMR system.
  • Prepare and administer medications as requested by the doctor.
  • Perform pulmonary function testing, FeNO testing, and peak flow monitoring.
  • Educate patients regarding medications and environmental control.
  • Prepare and administer nebulized medication and provide patient education.
  • Scan testing sheets.
  • Schedule appointments for outpatient procedures.
  • Administer allergy injections and manage all duties of the shot room.
  • Maintain organization and stock of clinical areas and exam rooms.
  • Keep samples and sample bags stocked.
  • Communicate with injection room staff for reordering emergency medications.
  • Check and log refrigerator temperatures daily.
  • Complete all tasks in Triage when scheduled.
  • Prepare patient information folders and Environmental Control packets.
  • Prepare I.D. and scratch trays.
  • Shut down and plug in computers and otoscopes at the end of the day.
  • Transport supplies to and from satellite offices.
  • Maintain and follow HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Cover Injection Room and/or Front Offices as needed.
  • Train new staff as needed or directed.
  • Work with Healix & Specialty pharmacies to process Biologics/IVIG prescriptions and forms.
  • Track shipments and inventory of Biologics.
  • Obtain prior authorizations as needed.
  • Cross train for Triage Nurse position and cover as needed.
  • Run and maintain Emerald22 as needed.
  • Order supplies as necessary through approved clinic procedures.
  • Prepare the injection room area each morning.
  • Re-stock injection room as needed and order supplies.
  • Re-order vials in a timely manner.
  • Organize refrigerated vials in appropriate bins.
  • Log daily refrigerator temperatures.
  • Monitor shot cards monthly and discard expired vials.
  • Ensure consent forms are signed and explain shot room policies to new patients.
  • Educate patients on the first injection policy.
  • Stay the required 30 minutes after the last injection before lunch or end of day.
  • Clean toy and lobby area.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all medications and IT treatment.
  • Effectively manage emergency procedures and protocols.
