The Medical Assistant Apprentice role is an entry-level position assisting with direct patient care under the guidance of a preceptor, progressing through learning modules over 12 months. Upon completion, CCMA Board Certification is required within 12 months. The Medical Assistant or LPN role involves assisting providers with direct patient care and performing identified procedures. The Clinic Care Technician role focuses on assisting with daily patient flow, including greeting and rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting in patient charts, stocking and cleaning exam rooms, ordering and maintaining supplies, and assisting with clerical duties.

Requirements

Medical Assistant Apprentice: Enrolled in the In-Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program (ICATAP).
Medical Assistant Apprentice: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
Medical Assistant or LPN: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in appropriate state (Minnesota, Wisconsin), OR current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant OR Verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
Medical Assistant or LPN: Must become certified within one year of date of hire (Must pass certification within two attempts).
Medical Assistant or LPN: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
Clinic Care Technician: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Clinic Care Technician: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant Apprentice: Upon completion of the ICATAP apprentice program, CCMA Board Certification is required within 12 months of completing the apprentice education program and meeting the on the job hours requirement.
Medical Assistant or LPN: Must become certified within one year of date of hire (Must pass certification within two attempts).

Responsibilities

Assist RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting.
Perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated.
Care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
Greet and room patients.
Obtain vital signs.
Document in patient chart.
Stock and clean exam rooms.
Order and maintain clinic supplies.
Assist with clerical duties.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
