About The Position

Registers patients receiving outpatient treatment in a friendly, accurate, and timely manner. Secures patient account by obtaining appropriate demographic, insurance, and medical information. Strives to minimize patient wait time for patients through proper and efficient scheduling practices. Improves customer satisfaction as it relates to the registration process, waiting time, and general communications. Provides estimates for services when appropriate. Receives and processes patient financial liability payments for current and past balances. Supports the psychiatric APRNs in direct patient care, such as measuring vitals, handling medication refills, and completing prior authorizations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED & Current Arkansas LPN license
  • Certifications as needed/required
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
  • Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • additional vocational or collegiate education is desired.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to set priorities. Executes job duties to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality of patient’s records, patient privacy and employee information. Respects all aspects of patient rights.
  • Work and documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Exhibits willingness to master new work routines, processes, initiatives, policies, procedures and methods.
  • Maintains professional image through appropriate behavior and appearance in accordance with Dress Code & Professional Appearance of Employees Policy
  • Collects and enters accurate demographic and financial data for all patients that are registered into the system. Collects and enters accurate guarantor information. Verifies patient ID with proper documents (driver’s license, ID card, Social Security card).
  • Scans all appropriate documents into the patient chart.
  • Verifies all insurance coverages. Enters the correct insurance payer into the patient account. Verify correct insurance with a copy of the insurance card front and back. A card must be requested at every date of service.
  • Answers department telephone, relays verbal and written messages promptly and accurately.
  • Discusses patient financial responsibility and requests co-pay or deposit at point of service as dictated by policy.
  • Performs collections of patients with outstanding accounts receivable. Properly receives and posts payments to the patient’s account.
  • Monitor inventory and order office supplies as needed.
  • Assist APRNs with PAs, taking vital signs, weight, do PHQ9, GAD-7 and AIMS and any other testing/scales necessary, maintaining updated medication list. Collect initial information, including the chief complaint Scan documents such as updated labs, recent hospitalization reports, EKGs, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
