Position Summary: This position is responsible for the nursing care delivered to patients in the ED. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) throughout a patient's stay in the ED, from triage to discharge/admission. Communicates effectively with other ED team members to ensure appropriate, timely, and professional care to all patients. Demonstrates ability to function safely and efficiently in high-stress situations and in response to unexpected changes in workload. Demonstrates knowledge of resources available within the hospital and in the community. Reports to ED Director .

Requirements

  • Two years of acute care nursing experience and One year of ER experience
  • Current RN license
  • American Heart Association ACLS, BLS, PALS and Non-violent crisis intervention/verbal de-escalation course within 3 months of hire.
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Membership in the Emergency Nurses Association encouraged.
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
