About The Position

The Winston-Salem Journal, a Lee Enterprises company, is hiring a tenacious and experienced reporter to cover climate change and the environment in Northwest North Carolina. This full-time position is funded by a grant from 1Earth Fund, a private nonprofit foundation that helps news organizations provide readers with information about climate change. The reporter will explain complex climate change issues and build sources to produce daily and enterprise stories. The role also involves developing content in alternate story forms and traditional formats, and producing compelling digital storytelling in collaboration with photojournalists, graphic artists, and videographers. Requirements

High ethical standards.
Excellent spelling and grammar skills.
Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

Two years in a newsroom preferred.
A bachelor's degree is preferred; it does not have to be in journalism or communications.
Drone certification would be a plus.
Previous experience covering climate change would be a plus.

Responsibilities
