About The Position

This is a full-time contract position for the term of nine months with strong potential for extension. The hourly rate offered will be $50 CAD per hour for up to 32 hours per week. Stand.earth operates under a four-day work week with offices closed on Fridays. The location for this contract position is fully remote in Canada with the option to be in our office space in Vancouver. The candidate must be willing and able to do occasional travel within Canada.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience campaigning on political, environmental or social justice campaigns
• Proven track record of developing and implementing effective public campaign strategies and tactics
• Able to anticipate and identify key related external public discourse moments to strategically insert our messaging.
• Ability to quickly assimilate complex information, identify strategic campaign opportunities and intervention points, and act on these
• Committed to equity, racial justice, authentic communications, standing up for impacted communities, and continual learning
• Excellent written communication skills in English
• Passion for combating the fossil fuel industry and climate change

Nice To Haves

• French language skills
• Climate and other community networks and knowledge of the political and cultural landscape in Canada
• Experience with digital campaigning and communications

Responsibilities

• Increase the impact of an existing campaign to slow and stop final investment decisions for new LNG projects in Canada.
• Work with our Communications and Engagement team to develop digital and communications strategies and products to support this campaign.
• Act as a spokesperson for this campaign as directed.
• Act as a representative for the campaign in Canadian and international coalition spaces, and coordinate our efforts with partners and allies.
• Work with frontline communities, including First Nations, that are impacted by proposed LNG projects.
