About The Position

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for Climate Fellow (Unpaid Contracted Student Interns) for the 2026 Fall Semester to perform the duties listed below. This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Candidates may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university. The Climate Fellow will support DCR's climate outreach and engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Interest in climate resilience, environmental planning, public health, sustainability, or related fields
  • Coursework or academic experience in environmental science, climate studies, geography/GIS, urban planning, public policy, data analysis, or a related discipline
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, or analyzing quantitative or qualitative data.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and in person with diverse audiences and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support community outreach and engagement efforts for DCR parkway adaptation and climate resilience projects.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating public meetings, workshops, and other engagement activities.
  • Help develop outreach materials, presentations, maps, surveys, and informational resources.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize community feedback from public engagement activities.
