About The Position

Adamah NY seeks an experienced, dynamic, entrepreneurial and mission-driven Climate Action & Resilience Manager to expand climate mitigation and resilience efforts across NY’s Jewish community institutions. This is a highly strategic, public-facing role for a relationship-builder who is passionate about climate action, climate resilience, and Jewish community engagement. Working closely with the Adamah NY Director and Adamah’s national Climate Action Team, the Manager will help launch a new Climate Security & Resilience program that helps communities prepare for, withstand, and recover from climate-related disruptions. Working in partnership with Jewish communal institutions and leaders, government agencies, emergency management professionals, utilities, and nonprofit partners the Manager will strengthen institutional preparedness, expand climate action across New York's Jewish community, and position Adamah NY as a trusted leader at the intersection of climate, resilience, and Jewish communal life. The Manager will be supported by a part-time Administrative Coordinator, working together to deliver programs, coordinate communications and logistics, manage partnerships, and support the continued growth of Adamah NY's climate initiatives. This position offers a rare opportunity to help build one of North America's first Jewish communal climate resilience initiatives while expanding climate action across New York's Jewish community. Working closely with Adamah NY staff, national colleagues, communal leaders, and external partners, the Manager will play a central role in developing climate action and resilience programs, cultivating strategic partnerships, supporting institutions in implementing climate solutions, and guiding members of the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition through the development and execution of their Climate Action Plans. The Manager will also help advance Adamah's Climate Action Fund and contribute to the growth of innovative climate and resilience initiatives across the region.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following fields: climate policy, sustainability, climate resilience, emergency management, environmental planning, public sector leadership, or nonprofit management.
  • Advanced degree preferred (MA, MPA, MS, or equivalent) in environmental studies, environmental policy, sustainability, engineering, public policy, public administration, nonprofit management, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of climate change, climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience planning.
  • Familiarity with emergency preparedness, continuity planning, and community resilience strategies.
  • Experience building cross-sector partnerships and facilitating collaborative initiatives involving nonprofit, government, philanthropic, private-sector, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience cultivating relationships and working effectively with institutional leaders, clergy, community members, and other key stakeholders.
  • strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts and data into practical guidance for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable facilitating workshops, leading trainings, and presenting to both professional and community audiences.
  • Experience managing grant-funded initiatives, including reporting, evaluation, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is preferred.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support research, drafting, project management, and operational efficiency while exercising sound judgment and fact-checking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing strategic thinking with attention to execution.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset, strong initiative, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of Adamah NY's Climate Security & Resilience program
  • Build strategic partnerships with NYC and New York State agencies working on climate resilience, emergency preparedness, infrastructure, public health, utilities, and community resilience.
  • Serve as Adamah NY's primary liaison with organizations including emergency management agencies, resilience offices, climate adaptation experts, utilities, insurers, academic institutions, and nonprofit partners.
  • Design, coordinate and deliver educational workshops, webinars, and resilience trainings for Jewish and other communal leaders, including one large multi-stakeholder conference yearly.
  • Coordinate a pilot resilience initiative with institutions in flood-prone communities.
  • Support participating institutions in developing preparedness protocols, continuity-of-operations plans, and resilience strategies.
  • Lead development of the Jewish Community Climate Resilience Playbook, including best practices, planning tools, funding opportunities, and government resources.
  • Identify funding opportunities and strategic partnerships to expand and sustain the resilience initiative beyond the initial grant period.
  • Grant reporting: Track project milestones, deliverables, evaluation metrics, and reporting requirements. Produce reports and recommendations documenting lessons learned and opportunities for expansion.
  • Recruit Jewish community organizations across the NY area to join Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition
  • Support the development, implementation, and annual reporting of NY based members’ organizational Climate Action Plans
  • Support the Climate Action Fund recruitment and application process
  • Design, deliver and coordinate local programming including learning sessions, and strategic workshops on climate solutions (e.g., electrification, clean energy, energy efficiency, nature-based solutions), Climate Week NY and Earth Day events
  • Develop local programs and partnerships with NYC-based climate and sustainability experts, government programs, nonprofits, and private sector leaders to support members’ decarbonization goals, to advance the Hub’s visibility, relevance and impact
  • Develop materials and resource guides as needed
  • Outreach to potential business partners (through Adamah’s Jewish Green Business Network and beyond) to create opportunities for Coalition members and for sponsorship
  • Support Adamah NY’s broader mission and programs including in person and outdoor events, retreats, and educational offerings
  • Foster meaningful integration between climate and resilience portfolio and other Adamah NY offerings by connecting members to additional Hub programs
  • Participate in internal meetings, including: Weekly check-ins with the Adamah NY Director, Weekly Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition team virtual meeting, Weekly Adamah NY team meetings, Monthly national Adamah staff meetings
  • Maintain accurate records and progress tracking using shared data systems
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Attend and contribute to regular Adamah NY team meetings, monthly all-staff meetings, and quarterly divisional meetings.
  • Collaborate with team members to support Adamah NY outreach, communications, and community building in the region.
  • While this role will focus on climate action and resilience, other responsibilities may be delegated and expanded as needed to support our interdisciplinary and collaborative team. Responsibilities could include but are not limited to: supporting set up for adjacent Adamah NY programming, supporting local engagement with the Jewish Youth Climate Movement or Adamah on Campus, marketing and communications support, and development and fundraising support.
