About The Position

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm. The Client Tax Reporting Department is responsible for ensuring that all IRS Tax documentations, withholding, reporting, deposits and filing obligations of the Firm are met. The Client Tax Director position is required to perform numerous daily functions, including review and approval of tax documentations including W-9 and W-8s, review of control reports and assist with year-end 1042-S/1099 reporting, assist with testing and quality review of various IT implementation for the department. Answer a wide range of complex questions related to tax documentation, withholding and reporting coming from our branch offices and internal business partners.

Requirements

  • College degree
  • Ability to multitask and take ownership of complex issues and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly identify an issue, coupled with the ability to succinctly articulate and escalate the issue, impact and corrective action to management.
  • Ability to operate across all functional areas across Business Unit, Corporate Tax, Technology, Compliance, Audit and Risk.
  • Ability to document process flows, desktop and written supervisory procedures.
  • Highly Organized and Detail Oriented.
  • Attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • A good understanding of Operations, Technology, & Risk.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Execute business and regulatory compliance responsibilities.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with current and future tax year requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing Year End Processing and mass corrections.
  • Work with different business units to address tax documentation issues.
  • Review and address withholding and reporting exception reports.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing audit procedure documentation.
  • Assist with daily remittance of withholding taxes to IRS and various state agencies.
  • Assist with state registration and testing of state setup.
  • Participate on tax deposits/withholding projects that focus on complying with new and existing regulatory requirements and specifications to create productivity enhancements.
