About The Position

PCC is seeking a technically skilled, service-oriented Systems Administrator to join our Client Technical Services (CTS) team. You’ll maintain the servers and networks our clients depend on, solve technical problems, and help practices plan and implement reliable infrastructure. This role combines hands-on systems administration, networking, and direct client support. We welcome candidates whose relevant experience comes from systems administration, network administration, infrastructure support, or technical support roles with substantial server and networking responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting servers that support critical business operations.
  • Experience configuring, supporting, and maintaining business-class firewalls, switches, and wireless networks.
  • A solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and services, including DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.
  • Desktop support experience and a working knowledge of Windows and macOS.
  • A thoughtful, methodical approach to troubleshooting and strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate positively and effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients, coworkers, and leadership.
  • A collaborative approach, a willingness to share knowledge, and an interest in learning from others.
  • A commitment to reliable client service and PCC’s mission: to remove the obstacles that prevent pediatricians from taking care of children.

Nice To Haves

  • Linux server administration, particularly Red Hat, CentOS, or Rocky Linux.
  • Bash, Perl, and/or Python scripting.
  • Proxmox virtualization and the ZFS filesystem.
  • Git version control.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve client infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with PCC-provided hardware, operating systems, networks, and related products.
  • Coordinate and perform server and network hardware installations and upgrades, remotely and at client offices.
  • Travel to client offices for installations and upgrades as needed.
  • Configure, prepare, and ship physical servers and network equipment.
  • Provision and administer cloud-hosted servers on Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on client servers and networks.
  • Help manage hardware warranty contracts and receive and ship client equipment.
  • Support clients and collaborate with colleagues
  • Provide friendly, professional technical support by phone, email, and support tickets.
  • Handle escalated tickets in partnership with PCC Technical Specialists.
  • Coordinate technical work with clients and third-party vendors.
  • Advise clients on hardware selection, internet connectivity, connections between offices, and network planning.
  • Communicate clearly with clients who have varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Document and share your work
  • Record work in help-desk tickets and PCC’s Tuleap project management system.
  • Create and maintain practical technical documentation for colleagues and clients in our intranet wiki.
  • Share knowledge and information to help the team solve problems and support clients effectively.
  • Protect confidential, sensitive, and protected information.
