About The Position

Ensures safety and efficient flow of services for clients, visitors and callers by coordinating the Intake process, assessing needs and determining priorities. Provides support and advocacy to adolescent and adult survivors of sexual assault (ages 13 and older) by providing support and advocacy prior to and throughout the forensic/medical exam at the hospital, providing information regarding sexual assault, follow-up care and community resources, and providing criminal legal interview accompaniment to criminal legal interviews with law enforcement. Maintains a competent, productive, and satisfied volunteer/intern pool by working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteers are oriented to Intake/Safety policies and procedures, supervising indirectly and through delegations, recommending training needs, communicating performance levels of volunteers to the Volunteer Coordinator, and assisting with trainings. Provides field experience for social work/criminal justice interns working in the Intake area by providing opportunities for established learning objectives, supervising field placement, ensuring identification with the social work/criminal justice field, and evaluating skill and personal and professional growth with the field supervisor. Assures quality services and program efficiency and effectiveness by complying with appropriate program standards and guidelines, completing required agency and funder paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, and complying with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and community networks. Contributes to team effort by communicating effectively, exhibiting a willingness to help other staff, demonstrating flexibility and accommodating change, encouraging and supporting others, engaging in amenable and cooperative contacts, giving and receiving feedback, and ensuring safety procedures will be followed at all times. Maintains agency credibility by establishing working relationships with sponsoring, advisory and related service agencies. Performs all other duties as related to the position and as assigned. Work non-traditional hours and/or alternate schedule during special projects or to meet agency deadlines.

Requirements

  • High School with some college
  • Two years experience working in social work, criminal justice field with related classes required
  • Intake and Scheduling experience
  • Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of community/social resources
  • Two years experience working with people

Responsibilities

  • Maintains safety of clients and staff at all times by assessing lethality of individual client situations, serving as backup for developing and reviewing safety plans with clients, serving as back-up for assisting clients in obtaining protective orders, coordinating and cooperating with law enforcement as needed, and complying with agency procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ensures flow of services by establishing initial rapport/trust on behalf of the FJC staff with clients by demonstrating concern and respect for others by listening carefully and without judgment, determining the nature of the client’s situation through the intake process, establishing an initial course of action by exploring options within the FJC, obtaining assistance for the client by referring client to appropriate FJC services, securing and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintains client confidentiality and protecting operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains client intake records and maintaining computer data.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; participating in quality reviews and reporting needed changes.
