About The Position
Under the supervision of the Coordinator, Adult Mental Health Services/Crisis Services, this role serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health services. This includes answering crisis phone lines, conducting crisis intervention encounters, providing brief Solution Focused Therapy, teaching coping skills, conducting de-escalation, aiding individuals with problem-solving, connecting individuals with the appropriate level of care, and collaborating with police, 911 call centers, and other providers. Additional duties involve documenting contacts, supporting data entry into the electronic records system, recommending referrals, and assisting with hospital referrals/placements. The role is responsible for carrying out all activities in a manner that fulfills CMHA’s mission, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
- A minimum of one year of professional experience working with persons with mental illness
- Ability to operate a computer and gain proficiency in CMHA-CEI’s computer systems, including Smart Care and Microsoft Word
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license
- Access to reliable transportation for job-related use
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

- On a case-by-case basis, we may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional experience working with persons with mental illness
Responsibilities

- Carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA’s mission, policies, and procedures
Benefits
- Shift Incentive: + $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm – 12am
- + $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm – Monday 8am
