About The Position

VCA Brookline Animal is seeking an experienced client service representative to join their well-established hospital and team. This is a six-doctor, fast-paced general medicine practice located in Brookline, near downtown Boston. The ideal candidate will be passionate about high-quality veterinary medicine, patient care, and customer service. They must be a reliable self-starter, motivated by a challenging and fast-paced environment, possess a positive attitude, and have a friendly demeanor towards both animals and people. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a strong understanding of excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in the veterinary field.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong client relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to expert computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • The ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste.
  • Compassion for pets and people—as well as awareness and understanding of others’ reactions.
  • Scheduling flexibility to include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms.
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Placing outbound calls for follow-ups and reaching out to prospective clients.
  • Presenting and explaining fees, including processing payments.
  • Answering questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on general animal husbandry and non-medical pet care (i.e., heartworm prevention, housebreaking, and flea & tick control).
  • Managing medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
  • Triaging phone calls.
  • Understanding and entering vaccine information.
