About The Position

The Helen Woodward Animal Center is seeking a Client Service Representative (CSR) for their Adoptions department. This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, detail-oriented, and thrive in fast-paced, people-focused environments. As a CSR, you will be the primary point of contact for adopters, visitors, and clients, requiring empathetic customer service skills and clear communication of Center policies and procedures. CSRs are crucial in ensuring adoption processes are accurate, efficient, and align with animal welfare standards. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with close contact with animals and dander. The Helen Woodward Animal Center is a smoke-free environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgement, reliability, and positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with dog and cat breeds, behavior, or animal welfare is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, high-quality customer service to clients and all Center visitors, both in person and via phone, email, voicemail, etc.
  • Counsel prospective adopters by accurately communicating pet information, breed characteristics, behavior, and Center policies.
  • Process adoption paperwork efficiently and with high level of accuracy, including completing and maintaining electronic and hardcopy records.
  • Assist clients seeking to relinquish pets in accordance with Center policies and procedures.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries while managing multiple tasks and completing priorities.
  • Assist customers in the retail store, Paws in the Ranch, including providing product recommendations, processing sales transactions, restocking merchandise, maintaining organized and well-presented displays, assisting with basic inventory tasks, and supporting daily retail operations as needed.
  • Communicate customer service concerns or animal welfare issues to managers on duty in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain compliance with all Center policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Participate in Center events, promotions, and activities as required.
