About The Position

The Client Relationship Associate is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients to maximize their banking experience. This role acts as a liaison between clients and back office departments, ensuring prompt and accurate service. The associate will sell financial products and services, proactively contact clients with recommendations, and utilize resources for effective consultative conversations. A key part of the role involves examining client assets, performing analysis to suggest additional banking services, and offering solutions for financial needs. The associate will also handle all banking inquiries, resolve difficult situations efficiently while ensuring customer satisfaction, and contribute to meeting sales goals. Additionally, the role requires knowledge of risk management, loss prevention, and adherence to all policies and procedures. Responsibilities include processing account opening forms, performing account maintenance, and providing support within the International Private Banking Division. The associate will also prepare and process inactive/dormant letters and W8Ben forms, and serve as backup for the International Private Banker.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up on assignments.
  • Ability to project a professional image within the community and branch.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Fully knowledgeable and skilled on all platform functions.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years branch banking experience and/or Valley National Bank training may be substituted.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Responsibilities

  • Examine a client's assets at the Bank. Perform analysis to suggest additional banking services and offer solutions when consulted about financial needs.
  • Field all banking inquiries made by the client. Resolve difficult situations quickly and efficiently while ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding customer service standards as well as individual and branch sales goals by offering and selling products and services and developing, expanding and retaining relationships.
  • Exercise knowledge of risk management, loss prevention and follow all policies and procedures.
  • Process account opening forms internally with the respective internal departments including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti Money Laundering.
  • Perform and process all account maintenance utilizing all resources available.
  • Provide effective support of sales and operational duties within the International Private Banking Division.
  • Prepare Inactive/Dormant letters and W8Ben'; send to customers, follow-up on receipt and process with back office.
  • Serve as backup for International Private Banker.
