About The Position

The Client Manager (National Benefits) role involves supporting IMA’s core values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key responsibilities include maintaining professional client relationships, researching and resolving client issues, answering benefits program questions, and providing guidance on compliance matters. The role also involves preparing for and actively participating in client meetings, recording action items, overseeing new vendor/carrier implementations, reviewing contracts, and ensuring client advocacy with carriers and vendors. Additionally, the Client Manager will work with clients to develop communication objectives, create member-facing collateral, lead information sessions, and update clients on partner features. Internally, the role requires active participation in client service team operations, effective communication of client updates, overseeing the work of an Account Coordinator, and assisting with other team duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Attains and maintains state life and health license in accordance with IMA standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent job experience
  • 3+ years of Employee Benefits experience, preferably with large and complex accounts
  • Intermediate MS office skills (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel, InDesign, Box)
  • Ability to learn and work in agency/client management systems and other related software and technology platforms
  • Ability to work independently and accurately, strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate interpersonal communication skills – written and oral – with the ability to articulate ideas and information in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to present information in a group setting (in person and virtually)
  • Intermediate organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with variable deadlines
  • Possesses high degree of diplomacy and tact while maintaining confidentially

Responsibilities

  • Maintains regular, professional contact to create and foster relationships with client representatives
  • Researches and resolves issues and requests in a timely manner, including issues requiring direct interactions
  • Answers questions related to benefits program
  • Conducts reviews and works to provide guidance on compliance related matters
  • Assists in and prepares materials and collateral for meetings and discussions
  • Actively participates in discussions
  • Records and reports meeting discussion and action items
  • Oversees new vendor/carrier implementations
  • Reviews carrier, vendor, and plan documents and contracts
  • Maintains regular contact with carrier and vendor representatives to ensure client advocacy and that issues are being resolved in a timely manner
  • Works with clients to develop short and long-term employee communication objectives
  • Creates member facing collateral pieces to promote and clarify benefit program features
  • Leads in person, virtual, and telephonic sessions to provide information and plan details to participants
  • Uses regular interactions to update clients on carrier and vendor partner features and services
  • Actively participates and contributes to client service team operations to meet deadlines
  • Effectively communicates client updates to appropriate team members and maintain task management system
  • Oversees job flow and outcome accuracy of assigned Account Coordinator
  • Assists with other team duties as needed – i.e., position vacancy, cover personal time off, etc.
