About The Position

The Client Ambassador is responsible for monitoring the shelter facility, clients, and guests to provide a safe, orderly, respectful, and peaceful environment. This is a customer-service oriented position at The Salvation Army Bell Shelter, a residential housing and services facility for single adults experiencing homelessness.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate with 1 year work experience.
  • If in recovery, must have a sobriety minimum of two (2) years.
  • Basic literacy skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification a must by 14 days of start date.
  • TB-cleared prior to start date.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in carrying out assignments independently.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong sense of workplace ethics and understanding of confidentiality protocols.
  • Ability to answer telephone, greet visitors, and interact with clients and other staff members in a courteous, professional, respectful manner.
  • Ability to effectively use office equipment (fax and copies).
  • Must be able to work any shift and/or assigned schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mental health and/or addictions fields preferred.
  • Understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all clients understand and comply with facility rules, including explaining rules as necessary.
  • Maintaining written records as required.
  • Monitoring and assisting with the cleanliness of the facility, including restrooms.
  • Answering incoming phone calls and directing them to the appropriate individuals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Greeting and directing visitors to appropriate individuals.
  • Providing basic information about the facility and programs as necessary.
  • Preparing written reports for all incidents using logs and incident report forms.
  • Maintaining a safe environment inside and outside of the facility.
  • Performing thorough rounds throughout each assigned shift.
  • Monitoring client medication.
  • Observing activity around the facility on the reception office video monitors at all times, and investigating/reporting activity and incidents as necessary.
  • Monitoring and supervising client social activities.
  • Performing all duties in a courteous, professional, and respectful manner.
