Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting, client service, or CAS experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Active CPA license strongly preferred; candidates with significant CAS, accounting, controllership, or client advisory experience may also be considered.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based accounting systems, including but not limited to QuickBooks online, Bill.com, Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Excel advanced functions, Power Query, Power BI, or other reporting/dashboard tools is a plus.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, including responsible use of AI-enabled tools, automation, and analytics to improve client service and team efficiency.
  • Comfort using technology to analyze financial data, prepare management reports, identify trends, and support client decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles and bookkeeping practices.
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities with a client-focused approach and the confidence to manage expectations, resolve issues, and coordinate team delivery.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to overtime during busy periods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across a team while independently managing client priorities, budgets, deadlines, and internal resource needs.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Willing to travel locally within the Twin Cities metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full life cycle of assigned CAS client relationships, including service delivery, team coordination, deadlines, budgets, and client communication.
  • Work independently to manage and oversee the work of CAS Accountants and Senior Accountants, ensuring client expectations, quality standards, and service commitments are met.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, coordinate internal resources, and escalate strategic, staffing, pricing, or risk matters to the Department Head or Principal as appropriate.
  • Enjoy a flexible work arrangement, with the ability to work remotely, visit client sites as needed, and engage in in-office meetings and training to foster team collaboration and leadership development.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned CAS clients, including routine communication, expectation setting, issue resolution, and proactive client service.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee client work across the team to meet deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and service commitments.
  • Oversee and assist with complex journal entries, detailed asset listings, and comprehensive reconciliations to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Oversee and assist with payroll preparation and review processes including compliance forms (e.g., Forms 940, 941, 944) and annual reporting forms (e.g., W-2, W-3, 1099, 1096), demonstrating precision and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Review deliverables and monitor workflow by identifying capacity concerns, coordinating staff support, and ensuring records of financial transactions and client reporting are maintained accurately.
  • Manage the full life cycle of client work from onboarding and recurring service delivery through transition planning, issue resolution, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Maintain scope and realization awareness by monitoring pricing concerns, budget performance, staffing needs, client transition issues, and internal resource requirements.
  • Coach and develop Senior Accountants and Accountants while helping build consistency across CAS processes, communication standards, and deliverables.
  • Escalate strategic, staffing, pricing, or risk matters to the Department Head or Principal in a timely manner, with clear recommendations and relevant context.
  • Participate in business development activities including proposal support, client expansion discussions, onboarding activities, and relationship-building efforts as appropriate.
  • Promote secure and professional practices by protecting confidential client information and ensuring appropriate use of accounting, payroll, workflow, and document-sharing systems.
