Requirements

  • Associate or BA/BS Degree holder in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of relevant public accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based accounting systems, including but not limited to QuickBooks online, Bill.com, Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Excel advanced functions, Power Query, Power BI, or other reporting/dashboard tools is a plus.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, including responsible use of AI-enabled tools, automation, and analytics to improve client service and team efficiency.
  • Comfort using technology to analyze financial data, prepare management reports, identify trends, and support client decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles and bookkeeping practices.
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities with a client-focused approach.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to overtime during busy periods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team while managing independent tasks.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willing to travel locally within the Twin Cities metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage month-end financial statements, reconciliations, forecasts/budgets, and client consulting needs for diverse industries.
  • Report directly to the Manager or Principal overseeing client relationships.
  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, including complex journal entries, detailed asset listings, and comprehensive reconciliations.
  • Provide personalized, high-level support to clients by addressing bookkeeping needs, delivering effective training, and resolving accounting challenges.
  • Take ownership of payroll preparation and review processes, coordinating accounts payable, and ensuring compliance.
  • Complete essential tax-related documentation.
  • Prepare and file quarterly payroll forms (e.g., Forms 940, 941, 944) and annual reporting forms (e.g., W-2, W-3, 1099, 1096).
  • Manage the payroll process by collecting and entering payroll data directly into the payroll provider platform.
  • Assist in the documentation of internal processes, facilitate training initiatives, and promote knowledge-sharing across the team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to protecting confidential client information and following secure practices when using accounting, payroll, and document-sharing systems.
