About The Position

Weston Solutions, Inc. is seeking a strategic Client Account Director/ Business Development Leader for its State and Local Sector. This role is crucial for Weston’s growth strategy, aiming to diversify market presence and offerings. The position involves providing leadership in developing long-term client relationships, building contract sales pipelines, ensuring high-quality project delivery through operational partnerships, and growing team capacity to deliver exceptional value in environmental and infrastructure services. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of environmental regulations and infrastructure trends, possessing excellent communication, business development, and project management skills. This role requires existing relationships with state, county, and city agencies and will serve as the primary client contact, delivering innovative and effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years' experience and established relationships with Mid Atlantic Municipal and State clients, in a strategic business development leadership position.
  • A broad understanding of the current and emerging environmental and infrastructure needs and funding challenges of those clients.
  • Highly collaborative and willing and able to work with many stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employee-owners, clients, and community leaders.
  • Growth mindset with 5+ years of demonstrated success in business development and proposal development to municipal and state agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership in developing long-term client relationships.
  • Build contract sales pipelines.
  • Partner with operations to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Grow the capacity of required teams to deliver exceptional value to clients in environmental and infrastructure technical areas.
  • Build a sustainable regional portfolio of new contracts and relationships with Municipal and State Agencies within the Mid-Atlantic Region (NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, and DC Metro) while maintaining the existing contract portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships with regional Teaming Partners.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support the development of regional delivery teams.
  • Achieve strategic, profitable, regional growth.
  • Attend associations, conferences, and networking events to expand the company’s presence.
  • Stay informed about legislative changes, funding opportunities, and the competitive landscape.
  • Successfully pursue new contracts with existing and new clients, and diversify the offerings provided.
  • Support the continued development of existing client relationships.
  • Mentor Project Managers and Seller/Doers.
  • Lead internal and external messaging.
  • Assist in staff recruiting and mentoring of project staff.
  • Translate highly technical information so that non-technical decision makers can understand risks and opportunities related to sustainability projects and Weston’s offering.
