About The Position

The H BE CUSTOMER ENGINEERING SUPPORT Department of the P CUSTOMER ENGINEERING Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. This role provides clerical support for the Department and/or various Divisions, operating independently under general supervision. The position involves handling inquiries, performing various clerical tasks such as reviewing, refining, processing, researching, initiating, preparing, and checking forms, records, reports, statistics, memos, and correspondence, while correcting errors in grammar, spelling, math, and form. It also includes coordinating activities, processing timecards, maintaining logs, tracking forecast variances/expenditures, assisting in forecast preparation, and utilizing various office equipment and related software.

Requirements

  • Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Support & Administrative Selection System (SASS). Note: Employees who have taken and passed the General Clerical Test do not need to take the SASS.
  • Must pass the SRA Oral & Written Directions Test.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 w.p.m. (to be determined by Company administered test).
  • Must have at least 3 years of general office and clerical experience.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license.
  • Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.

Responsibilities

  • Handles incoming/outgoing inquiries regarding department procedures, policies and information.
  • Performs a variety of clerical work involving review, refinement, processing, research, initiation, preparation and checking of forms, records, reports, statistics, memos, correspondence, etc.; corrects errors in grammar, spelling, math, and form.
  • Coordinates activities between the various levels of the department/Company, contractors, and/or agencies.
  • Processes timecards and maintains attendance and other logs.
  • Tracks forecast variances/expenditures and obtains explanations from various sources.
  • Assists in departmental and/or divisional forecast preparation.
  • Utilizes various office equipment such as copiers, facsimile, adding machine/calculator, computers and related software, printers, etc. to perform the duties/responsibilities of the position.
  • Performs all work of Clerk Typist I and II.
  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
  • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
