The Clerk/Tech works independently to provide various clerical services to their assigned unit. This includes processing physician’s orders, collaborating with departments to schedule patient tests and appointments, and contacting other facilities for arrangements and transfers. The role may also involve monitoring telemetry rhythms for pertinent changes in fetal or cardiac rhythms, interpreting rhythms, and informing nurses of life-threatening arrhythmias. Technician/Clerks are responsible for monitoring blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels, reporting changes to the appropriate nurse, and recording patient information and rhythm strips in the clinical record. They assist patients with basic daily living needs such as personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, transferring, and eating. The position serves as a central point of communication for internal and external customer service, performs accurate computer operations, and manages admission, discharge, and transfer information, as well as accurate billing/charge entry.
