The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center, Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a Clerk III to provide clerical coordination and support for ASC clinical operations. Duties will involve the use of personal computers, computer terminals, and a variety of software and/or conventional office equipment. The position is scheduled for 90% availability, Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts on a rotating schedule between 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Responsibilities include opening and/or closing the Ambulatory Surgery Center, retrieving voice messages, and responding as necessary. The role involves coordinating, updating, and distributing pertinent medical documentation for surgical cases, managing information from previous surgeries, and ensuring its proper documentation and distribution. The Clerk III will be responsible for the initial patient/family greeting, check-in procedures using clinical software, and facilitating patient flow. Tasks may include making telephone calls to patients, obtaining documents, and completing required electronic documentation such as OR arrival and departure times. The Surgery schedule will also be updated as required. The position requires answering questions from staff and visitors appropriately or directing them as needed, and assisting nursing and other medical staff with tasks such as making phone calls and addressing questions.
