About The Position

This role is responsible for admitting patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Clerk will assemble and explain all required paperwork and forms to patients, verify patient identity, and ensure proper completion of all paperwork prior to the patient’s procedure. This position also assists the Financial Counselor in obtaining pertinent information for patient registration and attaching proper means to document patient identity. The Clerk will verify all patient demographical information at the time of admissions and document all required information in the patient management system. Additionally, the role involves verifying patient insurance information for accuracy, maintaining the patient management system and other systems involving patient information, and collecting all applicable copays, deposits, and previous balances owed at the time of admissions. The Clerk will prepare all patient forms and packets daily, provide pertinent information to the patient's family according to HIPAA policies, assemble patient medical record forms, and prepare patient identification. This role also involves pulling previous patient records, scanning required documents into the facility EMR system, notifying the BOM of any system interfacing or operational issues, and maintaining and verifying vendor usage of RepTrax. The Clerk coordinates reception/admitting area activities for effective communication, notifies the BOM of any patient issues at the time of admitting, answers incoming telephone lines, accepts and relays messages, informs Facility Staff of admission delays, distributes the surgery and GI schedule daily, maintains patient confidentiality, identifies emergencies and initiates appropriate response, assumes clerical duties, prepares daily over the counter deposits, assists with preparation and maintenance of facility records, assists in maintaining cost effectiveness, maintains and stocks the nourishment area, and performs additional duties assigned by the BOM.
