This role is responsible for admitting patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Clerk will assemble and explain all required paperwork and forms to patients, verify patient identity, and ensure proper completion of all paperwork prior to the patient's procedure. This position also assists the Financial Counselor in obtaining pertinent information for patient registration and attaches proper means to document patient identity. The Clerk verifies all patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy, documents required information in the patient management system, and collects applicable copays, deposits, and previous balances owed. The role involves preparing patient forms and packets daily, providing information to patient families according to HIPAA policies, and assembling patient medical record forms. Additionally, the Clerk pulls previous patient records, scans documents into the EMR system, notifies the BOM of system issues, maintains vendor check-in/out logs, coordinates reception/admitting area activities, and informs facility staff of admission delays. The Clerk also answers incoming telephone lines, accepts and relays messages, distributes schedules, maintains patient confidentiality, identifies emergencies, and performs various clerical duties, including preparing deposits, assisting with facility records, and stocking the nourishment area. Additional duties may be assigned by the BOM.
