About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Temporary Part-time Clerical Support Associate to join their NICU/Children's Inpatient Unit. Since opening in 2015 as North America’s first fully digital hospital, Humber River Health has been dedicated to changing healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. Serving a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto, the organization emphasizes Equity, Inclusivity, and active participation in the North West Toronto Ontario Health Team. They utilize a custom combination of technology and clinical expertise to improve patient care, reduce inefficiencies, and minimize errors. Humber River Health is affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University, aiming to become a community academic hospital. This role is a temporary part-time position with an expected duration until August 2027, located at the Willson Site.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Minimum of one-year full time recent clerical experience required.
  • Computer skills required, keyboarding 40 wpm required.
  • Meditech computer experience is required.
  • Community-wide scheduling experience required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required, including an ability to prioritize a varied and busy workload and work with tight deadlines, frequent interruptions, and emergencies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed secretarial and medical terminology courses preferred.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent reception/customer service, patient processing and maintenance of patient records.
  • Registration of patients to the unit as well as booking/editing of patient appointments.
  • Maintains/supports all clerical and communication functions in the inpatient services.
  • Logging, maintaining and collection of statistics.
  • Ordering equipment and supplies.
