About Putnamville Correctional Facility: Putnamville Correctional Facility is a medium‑security facility in Greencastle, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 2,500 incarcerated adult males. Established in 1914, the facility has earned notable environmental and community service awards. Programming includes The Last Mile, which offers training in coding and multimedia production. Additional programs focus on education, parenting, and vocational development. Incarcerated individuals are encouraged to build skills that support re‑entry success. Role Overview: As a Clerical Assistant, you will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities associated with the facility packet room, record keeping, electronic filing, document archiving, and classification notifications. Individuals with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks are highly sought after and will be the most successful in this position. The position will work closely with other support staff in completing facility-required goals and tasks and will be an integral member of a successful and efficient team.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of general office functions and clerical procedures.

• Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.
• A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Supports the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks
• Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate person according to their needs.
• Answers telephones and gives information to callers, take messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
• Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail and correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
• Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
• Accurately maintains and organizes office files.
• Delivers messages and run errands.
• Maintains inventory, orders, and distributes supplies.
• Completes tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.
