About Miami Correctional Facility: Miami Correctional Facility is a level‑four high‑medium‑security facility located in Bunker Hill, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 3,100 incarcerated adult males. The facility sits on former Grissom Air Force Base property and also includes a level‑one facility with capacity for more than 200 incarcerated adult males. Miami Correctional Facility offers extensive educational and vocational programming, including a Braille translation program and a sewing shop serving community partners. Incarcerated individuals gain hands‑on skills that build employability for re‑entry and the programs help individuals develop strong work habits and meaningful experience. Employees at Miami Correctional Facility support the safe and secure operations of the facility 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Role Overview: As a Clerical Assistant at the Miami Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities associated with the facility packet room, record keeping, electronic filing, document archiving, and classification notifications. Individuals with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks are highly sought after and will be the most successful in this position. The position will work closely with other support staff in completing facility-required goals and tasks and will be an integral member of a successful and efficient team.

Requirements

Working knowledge of general office functions and clerical procedures.

Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.
A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Supports the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks
Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate person according to their needs.
Answers telephones and gives information to callers, take messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail and correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
Accurately maintains and organizes office files.
Delivers messages and run errands.
Maintains inventory, orders, and distributes supplies.
Completes tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.
