About Branchville Correctional Facility: Branchville Correctional Facility is a medium‑security facility located in Branchville, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 1,400 incarcerated adult males. The facility focuses on rehabilitation by offering several educational and vocational programs. Incarcerated individuals participate in woodworking and sewing, producing items that support local community organizations. Staff foster an environment that promotes accountability, skill development, and preparation for re‑entry. The facility’s rural southern Indiana location provides a structured and supportive atmosphere for growth. Role Overview: As a Clerical Assistant in the Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities associated with the facility you will be responsible for purchasing and tracking necessary items for Branchville's Physical Plant operations. You will also maintain all required Department, State, and Federal records regarding the Physical Plant. The position will work closely with other support staff in completing facility-required goals and tasks and will be an integral member of a successful and efficient team.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.
  • A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) is required.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks
  • Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate person according to their needs.
  • Answers telephones and gives information to callers, take messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail and correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
  • Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
  • Accurately maintains and organizes office files.
  • Delivers messages and run errands.
  • Maintains inventory, orders, and distributes supplies.
  • Completes tasks or projects assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for purchasing and tracking necessary items for Branchville's Physical Plant operations.
  • Maintain all required Department, State, and Federal records regarding the Physical Plant.
