About The Position

Perform manual operation of injection, transfer and compression style presses to produce rubber parts that meet customer expectations. The individual is fully proficient in working on all products in Molding as well as all presses, including Panstones.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to learn inspection techniques and operating procedures.
  • Has neat, legible handwriting (or printing).
  • Ability to learn and use, with assistance, scales and other measuring devices.
  • Is fully proficient - ability to set up as well as mold all products in molding Department.
  • Demonstrates a consistent ability to build and maintain solid, positive working relationships.
  • Is reliable with limited number of unplanned absences.
  • Is responsible, dependable and uses time well.
  • Is focused and able to work independently and at a steady pace.
  • Able and willing to responsibly and reliably work in other areas without supervision.
  • Good vision (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Fine motor skills in hands/wrist and good hand/eye coordination required especially when running insert jobs.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment, use tools and/or perform manual tasks related to one or more of the manufacturing processes used to produce products according to procedures/standards.
  • Follow approved methods and client specifications to perform Designated Operator jobs.
  • Perform mold changes on all types of presses.
  • Work in other departments, train co-workers, and work on challenging parts.
  • Follow current department procedures regarding proper work allocation.
  • Follow established ISO Procedures.
  • Accurately record/communicate data using ERP system (APPX).
  • Use proper line clearance procedures to ensure segregation of parts.
  • Use scales to weigh rubber and determine proper gram weights on new molds.
  • Exceed productivity goals while maintaining appropriate product quality.
  • Use information on JIS to understand and follow special instructions.
  • Use information on bin tags to understand and follow routing process.
  • Handle molds with a high degree of care to avoid damage.
  • Communicate with Leads, Supervisors and co-workers within and between departments.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a sense of urgency.
  • Foster an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for continued improvement.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Keep working area orderly by complying with 5-S Program.
  • Clean molds using proper techniques.
  • Maintain proper segregation of rubber at presses.
  • Learn additional processes in other departments as needed.
  • Provide assistance in other departments as needed with limited supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead.
