About The Position

Block by Block California employs Ambassadors to make public spaces better by making them friendlier, safer and cleaner for the communities they serve. This role is for a Cleaning Ambassador, which is a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors looking for their first job. The role provides a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone, while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor at all times. Requirements

• CA Driver's License with a Clean Driving Record is required.
• Hospitality skills are required.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug test.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Nice To Haves

• One year of cleaning experience preferred. We will train.

Responsibilities

• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Remove litter such as fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts and other debris from streets, sidewalks, and alleys.
• Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, and news boxes.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
• Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.
