About The Position

The Second Shift Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the hygiene and safety standards of the school premises. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks, operating cleaning machinery, and ensuring the proper use of chemicals and equipment. The position also requires reporting any hazards or defects to the Operations Manager and may involve additional duties during school closure periods, such as floor stripping and sealing, high-level dusting, and wall washing.

Requirements

Knowledge of Health & Safety guidelines.
Ability to safely use chemicals and cleaning materials.
Proficiency in operating cleaning machinery such as vacuum cleaners and polishers.
Ability to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
Strong reporting skills for hazards and defects.
Ability to perform tasks including vacuuming, spot cleaning, wiping surfaces, emptying bins, cleaning toilets, mopping, and furniture maintenance.

Responsibilities

Cleaning allocated parts of the school following Health & Safety guidelines.
Safe use of chemicals and cleaning materials, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Operating cleaning machinery for soft and hard surfaces (e.g., vacuum cleaners, polishers) following Health & Safety guidelines.
Maintaining School standards of hygiene and safety for all cleaning equipment and closets.
Reporting any hazards, defects, or equipment breakdowns to the Operations Manager immediately.
Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors.
Spot cleaning of spillages.
Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors, and polishing door glass.
Emptying and cleaning bins.
Cleaning toilets, including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
Wiping, polishing, and straightening furniture.
Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets.
Checking and closing windows, and switching off lights after work.
Performing other duties as allocated from time to time.
Undertaking routine cleaning throughout the school during periods when the school is closed, which may include stripping and sealing floors, high-level dusting, wall washing, and painting.
