About The Position

The Cleaner works under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and performs a variety of custodial duties for C&W Services in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures. The role includes cleaning and maintaining floors, rugs, furniture, interior glass, walls, bathrooms, and other building surfaces; replenishing restroom supplies; and collecting and handling trash. The Cleaner also performs periodic tasks such as high dusting, polishing leather and wood surfaces, and washing walls. Snow may be swept or shoveled from building entrances and walkways as directed. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required for basic cleaning responsibilities.
• Must be able to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Ability to use a portable backpack-style vacuum cleaner.
• Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other interior building surfaces.
• Use commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines, including attachments.
• Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot-clean rugs daily and shampoo them when directed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and other horizontal surfaces, including periodic high dusting.
• Wash windowsills and glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows; wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior and exterior.
• Wash or spot-clean interior walls as appropriate on a daily basis.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily, including wiping glass, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves and stall partitions, and sweeping, mopping, or scrubbing floors.
• Monitor for defects such as clogged urinals and lights that are out, and report them to supervisors.
• Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and move it to the designated collection area; replace liners according to specifications.
• Sweep or shovel snow from steps, building entrances, and connecting walkways or sidewalks as directed.
• Perform periodic high dusting, leather and wood surface care, polishing, and wall washing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
