EDF’s Clean Transportation team works to speed the transition to electric cars and trucks and encourage cleaner fuels for planes and ships. The team prioritizes people most affected by pollution, including those living near highways, ports, and industrial zones. Its work includes advocating for federal investments, helping organizations operate zero-emission vehicles and develop transition plans, and securing investments for decarbonization strategies. With supervision from the ZEV Trucks Project Manager, the intern will support the team’s transportation decarbonization work and learn about the transportation industry, medium- and heavy-duty fleet electrification, freight, shipping, and aviation. The intern will research opportunities for EDF to engage fleets, port authorities, airports, and other organizations to help establish emissions standards and set or update net-zero targets. The internship is intended to strengthen the intern’s technical skills and understanding of transportation-related environmental issues and strategies. This is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week internship for Spring 2027. It is U.S. remote, with the option to work in a hybrid arrangement from an EDF office in New York. The intern’s supervisor is based in Georgia. Applicants should attach a cover letter and resume to the EDF application and must meet the CUNY Climate Scholars Program eligibility criteria.
