About The Position

North Idaho College Head Start is seeking a caring and dedicated Classroom Teacher at the Community Early Learning Center in Coeur d'Alene to help young children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. In this role, you will create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment; implement curriculum; support children's growth and development; conduct assessments and maintain records; engage families through home visits and conferences; and collaborate with staff to provide high-quality services to children and families. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and customer service skills, communicates effectively, and builds positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners. Successful candidates demonstrate knowledge of child development, strong organizational skills, proficiency with common computer applications, and a commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and teamwork. Flexibility, initiative, and a positive approach to supporting children and families are essential. Requirements

  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development, OR Associates degree in any other field of study AND: the equivalent of a major in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (Level I)
  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development, OR Bachelors degree in any other field of study AND: the equivalent of a major in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (Level II)
  • One year experience (256 hours minimum) as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom with at least 10 children
  • Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system
  • Meet all training and certification requirements for child care licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards
  • Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid
  • Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work
  • Working knowledge of computers and commonly used software for Internet and e-mail access, word processing and data collection and management
  • Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health and social services
  • Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality
  • Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism
