About The Position
The intent of this assignment is to provide supervision during recess periods, occasionally lunch, during the school day and to provide classroom support to the teaching staff in between recess periods.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher, OR Completion of at least 60 college credit hours, OR ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score of 460 or higher
- Ability to use age-appropriate tone, language, and strategies with students, including those with diverse needs
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and sit on the floor while supervising and working with students
- Ability to remain active and mobile during outdoor and indoor supervision
- Ability to work in an environment with: Moderate to high noise levels, Changing weather conditions (during outdoor recess), Frequent movement and transitions
- Ability to respond to student needs, including supporting behavior and ensuring student safety
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and responsive in a fast-paced and active environment
- Must receive clearance from the Michigan State Police Department prior to employment.

Responsibilities
- Supervise students during recess and/or lunch, ensuring safety, appropriate behavior, and inclusion
- Support classroom instruction and routines under the direction of the teacher
- Assist in maintaining a structured and positive learning environment
- Support students with behavioral needs, including: Reinforcing expectations, Redirecting behavior, Supporting students during dysregulation as needed
- Follow established routines while demonstrating flexibility based on student and building needs
- Collaborate effectively as part of an instructional team
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance as an essential function of the position
- Complete assigned documentation or paperwork as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
