About The Position

The Classroom Support Assistant helps the classroom teacher meet the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals of children with disabilities. The role provides one-on-one support in a range of settings, assists with classroom activities and observation records, and rotates among classrooms within the center. The assistant also supports classroom staff with maintaining child-to-staff ratios and with diapering and potty training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• At least one year of experience with children ages three to five.
• Ability to read and implement strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children.
• Demonstrated communication, problem-solving, planning, and facilitation skills.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.

Nice To Haves

• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Disability/Mental Health Specialist to identify children with disabilities.
• Participate on the Multidisciplinary Individualized Education Program (IEP) Committee and attend scheduled committee meetings.
• Provide one-on-one support to children with disabilities in all settings.
• Implement IEP goals according to teacher-established lesson plans.
• Assist teaching staff with observation records for assigned children.
• Assist teaching staff with lesson plan activities for assigned children.
• Rotate within the center and work with children in different classrooms.
• Support classroom teaching staff in maintaining ratios of 20:2 for four-year-olds and 17:2 for three-year-olds.
• Assist teaching staff with diapering and potty training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
