Classroom Support Aide
About The Position
Under the supervision of the Office Manager, the floater will perform the duties assigned to her by the Lead Teacher. Employees may be asked to work in any of Ibero’s childcare programs. This role requires the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for qualified individuals with disabilities. The Classroom Support Aide reports directly to the Education Specialist and is responsible for establishing and maintaining good working relationships with Ibero staff, staff from related agencies, community representatives, and parents. They will assist Primary Caregivers and/or Head Teachers in implementing a developmentally appropriate program, adhering to Ibero’s policies and procedures, NYS regulations, UPK, Head Start, and Early Head Start standards. The role involves interacting positively and respectfully with children, supervising their safety during all activities, socializing with them during activities and mealtimes, and guiding them for calm transitions. Maintaining a pleasant and safe classroom environment, assisting with minor cleaning duties, and completing all work in a timely manner are also key responsibilities. The position requires attending scheduled staff meetings, parent meetings, trainings, and daycare center events, while keeping knowledge of children and families confidential and continuing professional development. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative regarding classroom activities and implementation of lesson plans as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development, early childhood education and appropriate discipline methods.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers or preschoolers.
- Must have clearance through the NYS Central Registry, good police record and good health.
- Ability to work alternative work schedule to support program/parent evening and weekend activities.
- Must show creativity and flexibility.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities
