About The Position

The Classroom Instructional Aide provides instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher and assists with preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. The position works with individual students and small groups, supports classroom organization and instruction, and helps supervise students throughout the school day. The work year is 184 days.

The aide is expected to work collaboratively and interact in a manner that supports students’ social and emotional well-being and promotes productivity. Frisco ISD may adjust responsibilities and assignments to meet District needs. The listed duties are not exhaustive.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must register with SBEC to obtain an Educational Aide Certification.
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or two years of higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administering and scoring objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make the teacher aware of individual students’ special needs or problems.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
