About The Position

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Classroom Support Specialist to join the Educational Support Services team. In this role, you will provide frontline support for classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces, ensuring audio visual, presentation, and lecture capture technologies operate seamlessly. You will troubleshoot technical issues, provide user training, support hybrid and online events, and partner with faculty, staff, and event organizers to deliver high-quality educational experiences. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused technology professional who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively, and helping others make effective use of instructional and event technologies.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 2+ years of experience in audiovisual technology, instructional technology, IT, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of audio visual technologies, including projection systems, cameras, microphones, audio processing and mixing equipment, sound reinforcement, lighting, and presentation technologies.
  • Experience supporting web conferencing and collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting lecture capture and educational technology platforms, such as Panopto or comparable systems.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and provide confident, customer-focused support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Providing AV support for classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces to ensure reliable operation of teaching and presentation technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving AV, web conferencing, and classroom technology issues in real time with a customer-focused approach.
  • Supporting setup, execution, and breakdown of hybrid, in-person, and virtual events, including conferences, educational programs, and testing.
  • Performing routine system checks, preventative maintenance, repairs, and inventory management for AV equipment.
  • Providing user training and guidance on instructional and collaborative technologies while partnering with IT and ESS staff to enhance teaching and learning environments.
