This Class V Maintenance position at our Albany Plant requires a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined individual to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Responsibilities include working with mechanical, electrical (single- and three-phase), hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled machinery. The role involves installing, dismantling, rigging, fabricating, welding, and rebuilding equipment and components, operating machine tools, and interpreting blueprints and schematics. Additionally, the position entails performing preventive maintenance, maintaining forklifts, cranes, and hoists, operating maintenance equipment, and supporting overall plant safety and reliability. Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred
Ability to read and comprehend the English language – this includes simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shop-floor paperwork, and procedure manuals)
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate and percent and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Basic computers skills required
Operating a fork truck is essential function and operator must be licensed by the Company before operating a fork truck

Responsibilities

Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machines operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts, including rigging and installation of machinery.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring (3-phase and single phase), and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
Install, program, and/or repair programmable controls and machine controllers.
Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
Operate cutting torch or welding equipment.
Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
Read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or electrical schematics.
Operate forklift and other maintenance-related equipment (e.g., man-lift, snowplow).
Repair and maintain forklifts and other related vehicles.
Repair and maintain hand tools, impact guns, saws, etc.
Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and inspect cranes and hoists monthly.
Identify and classify hazardous waste according to local regulations.
Label containers with appropriate hazard warnings and accumulation start dates.
Collect hazardous waste from generating areas and transport to designated storage areas.
Ensure proper segregation and storage of incompatible materials.
Maintain accurate records of waste generation, storage, and disposal (e.g., manifests, logs).
Assist with regulatory inspections.
Prepare waste for off-site shipment, including packaging and labeling per requirements.
Use appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols when handling hazardous materials.
Respond to spills or incidents involving hazardous waste in accordance with emergency procedures.
Participate in required training programs.
Communicate with EHS personnel and other departments to ensure compliance and safety.
Actively participate in all high-performance team activities.
