This role involves performing all tasks and responsibilities associated with TA and B Class status, including the layout, prefabrication, and installation of various components such as bulkheads, doors, ceilings, shelving, furniture, consoles, and all attachments from drawings with minimal supervision. The position requires marking out, shooting pins, and insulating deck head, side shells, beams, and ducting. It also involves measuring, building, and installing pads, running and cutting pipe coverings, and lagging them with minimal visible seams. The role includes running metal, operating shear and break machinery, reading metric and standard tape measures, and taking drawings to job sites for material work. Additionally, the Tradesman will mount and install equipment like valves and air hangers, lay out hangers, penos, and ducting, and understand interior painting principles. A key aspect of the role is monitoring the working environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations. The position requires willingness to train lower-skilled workers, potential assignment to any shift, and performance of additional tasks as required, including those outside the craft. Work must be performed in compliance with NAVSEA STD Items, and the ability to travel to off-site work locations and adhere to Austal Off-Site Temporary Assignment Policy is necessary.
