About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced CDL B Commercial Rear Load Truck Drivers for our Shelton, CT location. Safety is our top priority. This is a year-round, steady work opportunity with a full benefits package and paid time off. Drivers will be responsible for navigating routes, performing backing maneuvers, climbing in and out of the truck, and conducting pre and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws. Routes may involve congested communities and tight city areas.

Requirements

Minimum 21 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid Class A or B CDL.
Airbrake Endorsement.
1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
1 year of Rear Load experience is REQUIRED.
Must be able to drive a Manual Transmission.
Great Safety Record and Clean MVR.
Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations.
Ability to Speak & Read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic & signals, respond to official questions & make legible entries on reports & records.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred.

Responsibilities

Drive a Class B Rear Load Truck.
Navigate routes, including congested communities and confined or tight areas.
Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
Perform driver pre and post-trip inspections.
Ensure the truck adheres to IWS safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
Read and understand a map.
Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
Work required hours, which may include weekends, nights, and holidays.
